Abyss uses a loot structure consisting of guild ranks on top of a modified Ni-Karma DKP system for distribution of loot from all raids. This post will go on to further explain the complete loot system we are using and the way they all work together. Please take the time to read this fully and understand it before you intend to raid with Abyss.
Modified Ni-Karma DKP Explanation
There are currently 4 open dkp tables:
Tier 7 = Naxx/OS/Maly/Archavon
Tier 8 = Ulduar/Emalon
Tier 9 = ToC/Onyxia
Tier 10 = Icecrown Citadel
--Earning DKP--
DKP can be accrued at any rank within the guild thru raiding with us and will be awarded in several ways;
Raid Start..... +10 DKP
(points awarded at the start of the raid day 7:00 PM server. You must be next to the Stone of the instance that we are going to clear for the day. You will not get summons until 7:01 PM. Uses the highest tier dkp table. )
-Progression boss Kill..... +20 DKP
(points awarded to all members in the raid for guild first boss kills. First time hard modes also fall into this category. Uses the highest tier dkp table.)
Timed Award..... +10 DKP
(points awarded to all members in the raid within a scheduled time period. The table it goes to depends on which content we are currently doing. Usually will be after a ready check to see if outside people are afk.)
Raid End..... +10 DKP
(points are awarded at the end of the raid, make sure you do not leave until it is given out. Uses the highest tier dkp table.)
-Merit (Very Very Very Rare!!!)
(If an officer determines that an individual(s) did something above and beyond that officer with agreement of the other officers in the raid can award additional DKP to that individual(s)
Standby Award
You must not be afk, inside a pvp area/town or offline to get dkp. Preferably you stay out the current instance stone so swapping in and out is quicker. You can inform the dkp officer (Lu or Toadblood) if you want to switch to an alt to farm materials for the guild bank. A ready check might be used to see if you are afk or not so make sure to click yes/no when it pops up.
(This is how you earn your DKP outside of groups 1-5)
--If the people outside the raid are asked to farm for a specific item for the guild bank outside of raid you will be required to do so to earn you DKP for the evening.
--These points are awarded to everyone in the raid including those sitting outside unless otherwise specified. Since points are awarded to everyone in the raid in a scheduled time, if you go offline or need to leave for longer than 10 minutes you will be removed from the raid, this includes everyone inside and outside the instance. If removed from raid and you come back and want a re-invite just let us know.--
--Losing DKP--
DKP can also be deducted from you for various reasons and is at the discretion of the officers. Uses the highest tier dkp table. These reasons would be;
Going AFK inside of the raid instance..... -25 DKP
(If you have to go AFK let your CL or raid leader know and remove yourself from the instance so the raid can progress. If you must go AFK and you are a stone sitter make sure that there are others that can fulfill your duties and they are aware that you are AFK)
Not being Prepared..... -25DKP
(Not having all your consumables for the full night of raiding, not doing research, reading strats, watching videos). Signing on at 6:58 PM and asking to buy flasks from someone 2 min before raid start is not being prepared.
No Show/No Post on the afk forumsHalf Your Current DKP, If you are above the soft, you will be brought down to 250
(People need to accept the ingame calendar invites as much as possible and showup when they do sign up. We use the ingame calendar to plan what we are gonna try to kill that night by class balance and need to know who we have to work with. Make sure you accept your invites and post in the afk forums. Don't rely on telling the officers that you will be afk. If it's not posted in the forums, you're out of luck. This will be checked after raid start is given, if you log on after and have a valid excuse, your dkp will be refunded. You should never get this dock as long as you're posting on the afk forums regularly.)
Accept those Calendar Invites, if you do not get the invites, talk to Toadblood to fix it.
Repeat offences in one night
Once - -25 DKP
Multiple times - replaced and sat for the next fight if in the instance (still in raid just outside) -50 DKP
Special Docks:
Getting hit by Icehowl during Trample in H ToC
Getting hit by the Red Gas Cloud in Putricide
Spreading Ice Tombs on Sindragosa during p3
--You will be warned verbally once prior to DKP deduction, and if you have DKP deducted from you odds are you were doing something really stupid and need to refocus yourself on the raid or sit out for someone willing to do the job right. We do not want to take away DKP but will be doing it if people blatantly deserve it. If you have DKP deducted more than once in a month and have a Raider rank you will be demoted back to Member status, if already a Member you will have you timer reset and a week will be added on your advancement to Raider status.... If a Recruit and this happens you probably won't be in the guild too long.--
Officers will announce at the start of a raid if special docks will be given out during a specific instance and docking is at the discretion of the officer core
How the DKP and the Loot Rank System Work Together
Abyss will be using the loot rank system on top of the DKP system when handing out loot in our raids. Meaning that before any DKP is taken into consideration the ranks get taken care of first. Those with Raider status have loot priority over Members and Recruits. If two or more Raiders want to bid on an item then we will be using the accrued DKP points to decide who will be getting the item, the person with the most DKP will win the item and have the points deducted from his DKP pool. If no Raiders want the item then it will be open to Members, as they have priority over recruits. Same thing applies if two or more Members want the item, the one with the most DKP will be the winner and have the points deducted from his pool. Recruits get last dibs at items but if neither Members or Raiders want an item recruits can bid for it, if two or more want an item, it goes by DKP same as the other two ranks.
In short this means that unless you are a Raider you are automatically out of the running on any loot if someone of a higher rank than you wants it.
Loot Priority will be based on Rank>Armor Class>DKP. When bidding on items, please be considerate of your fellow raiders. I don't want to have to see paladins rolling on crit/haste cloth to give an example.
The DKP is soft capped at 500 and hard capped at 1000.
An example would be assuming the 3 people are the same rank and armor class:
If a person A has 1234 DKP(way over the hard cap) and they get an item, their total dkp will be reduced to 250 and they will be charged 984 Dkp for the item.
If person B has 789 DKP and they get an item, they will be reduced to 250 and charged 539 DKP.
If person C has 500 DKP and they get the item, they will be reduced to 250 and charged 250 DKP.
Now if person A(1230), person B(789) and person C(500) are all bidding on the same item, it would go to Person A since he has the highest dkp with taking the Hard Cap into account.
If Person B(789) and Person C(500) are all bidding on the same item, it would go to Person B since he has the highest dkp with taking the Hard Cap into account.
If for some reason two people with the same rank reach the cap, they will roll for the item. This should be very very rare since you have a total of five raid weeks to reach the hard cap assuming you get all the normal dkp awards for the entire 5 week period.
The lowest you can go is 0 dkp. There is no negative dkp. If you are at 0 dkp (a very very rare case), you will not be able to get any items.
Vanity Mounts that drop are limited to Raiders rank rolls only. If you roll when it it's put up for rolls and you are not a raider, expect to get ALL of your dkp wiped.
Loot Ranks and Promotion/Demotion Explanation
The reason we use a rank system on top of DKP is we want to be able to reward those that show they spend there time helping us as a guild progress. The three main ranks in regards to all loot issues are Recruit, Member and Raider. Raiders get loot priority over Members, much like Members get priority over recruits. To progress thru the loot ranks is really a very easy thing to do, all we ask is that you spend time in raids with us working on the greater goals of the guild. We will be doing the promotions/demotions every two weeks and the new ranks will count from that point on towards loot rolls for the next two weeks until we promote/demote people again. If you were previously a raider and for some reason were demoted to member, you can get promoted up again after one raid week. There is a fourth rank of Casual/Family which is the lowest rank in terms of loot distribution.
Raider>Member>Recruit>Family/Casual
What does this mean for those who don't have Raider rank? How does one get to such a hollowed spot in the guild you may ask? Requirements for advancement in rank;
-Recruit to Member
Has to be a good fit in the guilds personality with basic knowledge of there class and has to be willing to listen and learn. During your initial 2 week trial period, you are expected to have 90% attendance to show that you want to get promoted. If you appear once or twice during your trial period, expect to be removed. To maintain a Member rank, you must meet the 4 out of 8 days requirement.
-You must show you are trying to make progress on your gear/skills as we will expect you to be able to join us in the content we are farming. If you do not meet your time requirement, gearing up properly or are a bad fit during your recruitment phase you probably wont be in Abyss very long.
-Member to Raider
Minimum of 3 days a week spent in raids for 2 weeks even if sitting standby. Shows they are reliable and willing to research and prepare for raids with a very good knowledge of there class. Members moving to Raider rank will also have a gear/spec check done for qualification to be a raider by there class officer. They will also have to follow the general guidelines listed below:
- Must be geared appropriately for the content we are in.
- Must have a reliable internet connection.
- Must have Ventrilo up and running 100% of the time when raiding.
- Must have all Required Mods
- Must check our guild website and forums for info regularly.
- Must prove themselves worthy of the Raider rank by showing the ability to follow all the Rules and Standards required from Raiders.
- A former Raider that is demoted to Member status can be promoted once again after one week if they meet the raider requirements.
-To Maintain a Raider rank
Must make our Attendance requirement. Raiders will be expected to know fights ahead of time and be fully prepared for raids unless you notify us otherwise. Must possess a excellent knowledge of there class including ability/spell rotations, how to maximize there effectiveness in raids and how to learn from there mistakes. As Raiders you are the PvE cream of the crop of Abyss, take pride in this!... but you must behave as such or you won't be there very long.
-Raider demoted to Member
For a Raider to be demoted back to Member you have to have not made your 3 days per week without prior notice to us if you are going to be away from the game. You could have also shown us that you cannot learn from your mistakes or that your not living up to the full potential of your given class. You can also be demoted for -DKP offenses or for showing up a spec your not expected to be. If you wish to get your Raider rank back all you have to do is fix the issues that got your demoted and you will earn our rank back by reccomendation of your Class Leader.
*It should be noted here that to lose raider rank in the first place is an issue that you yourself have caused by doing any of the things mentioned above, and to keep the rank once you have it is really almost too easy. Blaming anyone else but yourself for it happening is only fooling yourself.*
Now if you take a real close look at the requirements, there is nothing hard about any of it. The hardest thing up there is maintaining our attendance requirement. We currently raid 4 hours a night or more 4 days a week....if you attend three raids a week your covered as far as time goes. The days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Mondays.
If you go on vacation, leave town, get arrested, go on a drinking binge...etc..etc.. you need to let us know as much in advance as possible by posting in the AFK forums on our website.
The other requirements shouldn't be an issue if you really want to raid end game. Reading a strategy or watching a video for a boss takes maybe 10 minutes and if you do three new bosses a week ...it's a total of 30 minutes. If you can't spare 30 minutes a week to help 24 other people out by being prepared you don't need to be raiding. Being prepared for raids by bringing pots and other things that may help you during the raid should be second nature, raiding is expensive and you need to be prepared to spend the gold or the time to get the things you need. Last requirement is something that should be trivial also to everyone, you are level 80 and wanting to raid 25 man instances.
How Looting will be Handled in Raids
All raids in Abyss are master looted, with one of the officers or trusted members doing it. All Greens, Blues, Epic BoE drops or any other non bind drops will be going to the guild bank, if the item is BoP or of an item needs to be disenchanted it will be passed to the enchanter set up prior to the raid.
All items won in 25 mans regardless of the item, cost 50% of your total DKP until you reach the soft cap(500), then the cost will = Current dkp - 250, up until you reach the Hard Cap(1000)
When we have epic loot we will ask that vent and raid chat be cleared and the loot master will link the item in raid chat. Those interested in the item will be asked at this time to link the piece of gear that the drop will be replacing in raid chat. We will then check Rank/Armor Class/DKP on everyone who wanted the item and award it based on the rules outlined above. We ask that only those that are interested in the item for there main spec armor set to link during this time as we will call when to bid for off spec gear.
We are asking to see your items when interested because if it is an upgrade for you, even if slight, and you have the most DKP you will be taking the item unless a major upgrade for someone else and your passing down. This is done so people don't horde DKP and/or not waiting till we offer it up at no DKP cost when it's called for off spec.
If no one in the raid wants/can use an item in their main spec armor set then we will open it up for off spec. When we call this the DKP price of the item is free, with rank/roll determining who gets it. Pure dps classes (Mages, Warlocks, Rogues and Hunters) do not have an off-spec.*
*Rogues have an off-spec in regards to weapons(Mutilate vs Combat)
*Healer Priests have an off-spec in regards to gearing(Holy vs Disc)
The off-specs for these 2 classes will be put on their guild character tabs. If you try to bullshit for an off-roll to get a free item and get caught, expect a dkp wipe.
Any Pvp Items from VoA will be rolls but priority will go for main spec.
Please only link an item if you are really interested in it. If you are fooling around with linking during looting and get an item you shouldn't have because of it, you will not have your DKP refunded and have to eat your mistake.
Passing Loot
We wholeheartedly encourage folks to pass loot around and be mindful of long term progression of the guild as a whole. If there is a item that would be a major upgrade for another of your fellow raiders versus a minor upgrade for you, be kind and pass it on down. This makes a fellow raider a bit stronger but also harbors good feelings all around. Talk to your fellow class members so you can coordinate which items you want.
10 Mans
10 Mans are currently run on on off days and times for the most part as more of a dungeon for badges or alts, if you need to go to 10 Mans for gear you need to be looking for others on the days when we don't raid.
10 Mans are run on a no DKP system and loot is decided by the raid leader.
10 Mans are open to Alts in the guild if they want to go, but they will get last loot priority in there as we would still like the ones raiding getting the gear. In 10 Mans the loot rule of being kind to fellow guildies comes more into play, with progression as a guild kept in mind.
Changing Mains / Specs and Loot
If you want to switch your main in the guild to another character it can be arranged but there are a few things to note. Since this isn't something we want people to be able to do without some drawbacks or folks would do this all willy nilly. For all intents and purposes changing your Spec is the same as switching your main, If by changing your spec means changing your role in the raid environment. (Tank to DPS, Melee to ranged dps, etc)
If this is something that you have been thinking about read on, If you switch your main to another character or to switch specs you can expect to;
-Have your DKP reset to zero on both your alt you intend to make your main and your previous main.
-You will have your DKP zeroed out if changing specs also
-Start out at recruit rank and have to work your way back up thru the ranks.
-Play on your previous main / spec if we need that character/spec for class balance, If this happens you will earn DKP for your new main/ role while in raid.
Before you even ask us if you can change mains or specs though these are a few things we will be expecting.....
-The character that you intend to make your main needs to be at least equivalently geared as the character you are replacing and you need to be at least as equivalently skilled in playing your new main as you were your old one.
- To have gear that will allow you to change specs with very little downtime on your part.
-That you are not hindering the raid in any form by doing so, if your in a locked in role in the guild (mainly tanks and healers) there will be no switching, sorry
If we ask you to play another character or spec for the betterment of the guild you will not get your DKP reset and your rank will remain the same as your previous main. If we ask you to change mains it is a special case and will be handled at the discretion of the officers.
One last note on loot
There will be no whining, complaining, bribing or drama towards loot in this guild as everyone will eventually get what they need for the guild to progress. Patience is a virtue and hard work will pay off with good dividends in due time.
